Combined Multiuser Signal Classification and Blind Equalization

چکیده
A Multiuser Automatic Modulation Classifier (MAMC) is an important signal processing component of a multi-antenna cognitive radio (CR) receiver that can identify the modulation format employed by multiple users simultaneously. In a typical wireless communication system, transmitted signals are subjected to multipath fading and interference from other users. Multipath fading not only affects symbol detection performance but also affects the performance of the automatic modulation classifier (AMC). A multi-input multi-output (MIMO) blind equalizer is another important component of a multi-antenna CR receiver that improves symbol detection performance by reducing inter symbol interference (ISI) and inter user interference (IUI). In a CR scenario it is preferable to consider the performance of the AMC also while adapting the parameters of the blind equalizer. A n order cumulant based MAMC was recently proposed by the authors. In this paper, we propose a MIMO blind equalizer that improves the performance of both multiuser symbol detection and n order cumulant based MAMC. Computer simulations are provided to illustrate this concept and the proposed algorithm.

Zero-forcing blind equalization based on channel subspace estimates for multiuser systems
The recovery of input signals in a frequency selective fading channel is a problem of great theoretical and practical interest. In this paper, we present several new blind algorithms that utilize second order statistics for multichannel equalization. The algorithms are based on the subspace extraction of a preselected block column of the channel convolution matrix. For multiuser system, user si...
متن کاملThe Generalized Constant Modulus Algorithm Applied to Multiuser Space-Time Equalization
The generalized constant modulus criterion and algorithm (GCMA) was proposed in [1] as a blind equalization technique for combating inter-symbol interference in single-user systems. In this paper we extend this concept for the blind separation and equalization of multiple users in presence of inter-symbol interference. The proposed criterion and algorithm can be viewed as a generalization of CM...
متن کاملProperties of some blind equalization criteria in noisy multiuser environments
Blind equalization in noisy multiuser channels has met with increasing attention with the advent of multiaccess digital communication systems. We examine blind equalizer performance in cases where perfect equalization proves unattainable due to noise and interference from concurrent users. In particular, we obtain a characterization of stationary points and extrema for a family of blind criteri...
متن کاملEqualization and interference cancellation in linear multiuser systems based on second-order statistics
Potential applications of blind channel identification and equalization in data communication systems have recently been explored. For multiuser systems that are irreducible and column-reduced, second-order statistical methods normally can identify channel dynamics up to a unitary mixing matrix. Additional user separation (equalization) can rely on higher order statistics and other prior inform...
